I'm a neutered male, who is 5 years old & weigh 9.5 lbs.My story begins in the overnight 'drop pen' at a local kill shelter. Although I'm a rare & highly sought after breed, I was abandoned by my owner like a simple bag of trash.I looked pretty rough when I was taken into the building & because of this, nobody wanted to adopt me. My savior, from Papillon Pals Rescue, saw me when she came to rescue 2 other dogs. She knew I'd be on the top of the euthanasia list as I had bad skin, an eye infection & was underweight. Although her home was already full, her heart wouldn't let her leave me there to die. Thank you God!She signed me out & took me to the vet for a full physical and to update all my shots. I've even had a 3 yr. Rabies vaccine & the optional Bordetella shot to ward off Kennel Cough. I tested negative for all parasites including Heartworms & have been neutered, micro-chipped & even had a full dental scrape, clean & polish. Dr. Hansen sent my new mom home with an anitbiotic to help my skin & eyes & said I should be healthy & ready to find my new forever home by the thirteenth of September.Right now I'm in a wonderful & loving yet temporary home with another dog who looks like me & a few who do not. I get along well with the other dogs but the only thing I like about cats, is chasing them! I enjoy running in the yard, riding in the car & am already much improved at walking on a leash. The potty thing is a 'work in progress' but mom has an unparalleled record of success when it come to housetraining so it shouldn't take long before I've mastered that too.All my neglect didn't just leave me w/ physical scars, I also have a few emotional ones. For one thing, I've developed a little problem with separation anxiety. I really want to be with my human 24/7 and cry/whine when mom is out of sight. Mom calls me 'a loving but clingy Velco dog'. I'm also not a fan of the crate which some people believe is essential for potty training. Mom thinks I definitely have negative associations with it & therefore does not force me into one. She keeps a close eye on me & takes me out to 'do my business' frequently. There are 2 major requirements that must be met when applying to be my new family:1. You MUST be a stay-at-home person.(Unless I can either go to work with you or you only work a part time job).2. You MUST have a fenced yard. (Because I'm still learning to leash walk). In case you're unfamiliar with my breed, read below: GENERAL INFO ABOUT THE CHINESE CRESTED ~ HAIRY HAIRLESS 'The most popular of the hairless breed, the Chinese Crested are still very rare. These dogs are sweet, lively, playful and cuddly. They are exceptionally loving. Affectionate with children. Children should be taught not to be rough with this breed as it is friendly, but it does not have the protective hair that other breeds have and can get injured easily. They are an entertaining companion. Intelligent and very alert. They have an ability to perform tricks and are generally good with other pets. They are not barkers. They tend to become very attached to their owners. These dogs enjoy constant companionship, and need constant human leadership'. ~~~~~'Chinese Crested are very clean, with no doggie odor and are not prone to fleas or ticks. Bathe the Hairless frequently and massage a little oil or cream into the skin to keep it supple. These dogs shed little to no hair and are great for allergy sufferers.Do not overfeed this breed, as it will become obese if given the chance. The hairless dogs do get sunburn and a good sunscreen should be used if the dog is going to be out in the sun'.
