Chihuahua - Small - Senior - Male - Dog - TINY aka MR. T
Description
* { font:inherit; } Please contact papillonmom@bellsouth.net for more information about this pet. This little dog needs a loving home!Hi, my name is Tiny aka Mr. T! I'm a male, 'applehead' Chihuahua who is approximately 9 yrs old and weigh 2 itty bitty pounds. I was found as a stray & brought to the high-kill shelter on 2/20.  I was supposed to stay for a few days to see if my humans would claim me and then go to Papillon Pals Rescue after being vetted & neutered on 2/26.  Unfortunately, I began coughing & wheezing on the 21 st.  I was given antibiotics but they didn't help much.  On a vet visit on 2/24 when I had stopped eating and was wheezing badly.  The vet diagnosed  me with tracheal bronchitis (kennel cough) and I was put on other antibiotics and meds.  They didn't help much either and by 2/28 I was really struggling; it was so hard to breathe!  When the vet heard my choking (during a phone call), he suggested x-rays.  These were done & revealed a collapsed trachea, all the way into my stomach.  He also noted enlargement of the heart & fluid in my lungs, probably from the lack of oxygen during the choking episodes.  Now, I'm on 3  medications; one for fluid in my lungs, a stronger antibiotic and a bronchial dilator.  The meds have helped quite a bit & the choking & reverse sneezing episodes are less frequent.  My activities have been restricted to avoid the choking but my foster Mommy has discoved that light, gentle strokes on my throat relaxes me & makes it more tolerable when they do occur. Because of my breathing issues, surgery of any kind (including neuter) is out of the question.  The tough decision has been made that I  will remain in foster care for whatever time I have left. I am considered 'unadoptable' because I can not be neutered.  'Mommy' is hoping with TLC & continued meds.,  I will have lots of additional quality time to enjoy the attention & love.     All I really want is a good meal and a lap to curl up in.  Mommy says I'm exceptionally well behaved.  I never mark, even thought I'm still intact!  She also says I'm a great little kisser & will look sweetly, with my huge loving eyes into yours.  In between choking bouts, my tail is always wagging cause I'm really a happy little guy. Afterall, there are far worse situations to be in...just look at all the dogs I left behind at the shelter, some of which will never see the light of day again.   You may be wondering why I'm telling you my story since I'm not available for adoption.  Well, Papillon Pals Rescue is a legitimate, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which relys on public donations to continue doing the work of rescue.  My care costs alone could easily dissolve a small group such as theirs.  So, I'm asking, if my story has touched you in any way, please consider making a tax deductible donation to help this wonderful group continue to care for small dogs in need.  Without them, I would not be here today...with a new lease on life.  No donation is too small and all amounts are greatly appreciated.     With Indescribable Hope & Gratitude, Tiny in Jacksonville, FL    PLEASE DO NOT CALL US ABOUT THIS DOG. We are an all volunteer organization and cannot handle the volume of calls received about adoptable dogs. Instead, please email us and we will respond, answering your questions ASAP. Thanks for understanding. PPRI's ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Submit online application. 2. References are contacted & verified. 3. Application is reviewed by foster parent & adoption committee. 4.Upon approval of application, a Home Evaluation will be scheduled. 5. Home is evaluated & adopter will meet potential dog (if possible). 6. Upon satisfactory completion of Home Eval. Adoption papers are signed & donation is made via personal check (or proof of PayPal donation transaction is provided). 7. Adopter takes possession of dog.
